There is nothing more personal than helping someone and their family buy or sell their home.
My diverse family history gives me a unique appreciation for finding or selling that perfect home. Growing up visiting my mother’s family in the farmlands of Missouri and Kansas and my father’s family in New York City, I understand the different benefits and beauty in all lifestyles. I will help you find the perfect farmette, a condo on Winchester’s Walking Mall, or the ideal neighborhood home on the cul de sac.

Living in Winchester for almost 20 years, I’m a graduate of Stuart Hall in Staunton, Virginia. and of Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina. I married Rob Elson and have two children, Sarah attending VCU and Nathan at Radford University. My mother, Betty Jo Halterman Dickerson, was born and raised in Winchester with local ancestry dating back to the 1700’s when Henry Bayliss received a land grant for Lord Fairfax and John Bayliss helped George Washington survey.
I was Executive Director for Grace Lutheran Preschool in Winchester before deciding to make a career change and pursue real estate. We are long time members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. I’m also a member of Colonial Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of University Women, and Order of the Eastern Star. After working 10 years as an Officer of Elections, I now am serving my second term on the Electoral Board for the City of Winchester.
I am excited to be working with Dominion Real Estate Associates.

I've been fascinated with real estate since buying my first home in 2000. This led me to specialize in Economic Development as part of my Master's Degree in Public Administration from Cleveland State University in 2005. I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Miami University of Ohio in 1992.
My husband and I moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 2017 after falling in love with the small towns and beautiful scenery. We love hiking and kayaking so having both mountains and rivers nearby makes the area perfect for us. We also love the small-town festivals which happen almost every weekend in the Valley! My family has a long history in the Commonwealth having settled near the James River in the 1600’s. I enjoy being active in the community by volunteering with Rotary Club of Front Royal.
Buying and selling can be overwhelming for many people. Whether buying or selling your home or commercial property, let me help you manage the process by organizing the volume of information and providing tools to guide you through the journey.

I was born and raised in Virginia and attended Virginia Tech where I met my wife Amy, the love of my life. We have lived in and around the Winchester area since we were married and we are blessed with 8 children and a host of grandchildren. Growing up I worked for my father’s construction company and later continued on with my own business. I have extensive experience in new construction, remodeling and renovations in both residential and commercial properties. I enjoy most helping people find their “dream home” whatever stage of life they are in.

I am from Fairfax County Virginia where I spent many weekends visiting the Shenandoah Valley, camping, canoeing, attending antique auctions and dreaming of someday buying my own farmhouse.
My interest in all things old and historic led me to my first business, an antique restoration company. That business evolved into restoring and remodeling homes, blending the old with the new in kitchens, bathrooms and personal libraries.
And yes, eventually I did buy my own farmhouse in 1997 when my real estate career began here in the Winchester area. The more I worked in real estate the more I realized I would approach it through my affection for a project. I then, with my good friend/co-owner, created Historic Properties, Inc.
After raising my children in Winchester, I moved to Asheville, NC in 2010. There I expanded my experience with mid-century home remodeling and design. My husband Phil and I recently moved back to Winchester to be closer to our expanding family, buying a circa 1946 home which I already have big plans for.
Whether new construction or restoration of a historic home, my passion is bringing every home to its fullest potential.
I understand that lifestyle is what people are looking for in a home and I am passionate about sharing my experience in helping buyers and sellers achieve their dreams, guiding them through a seemingly complex process and making it as smooth as possible.
I enjoy all aspects of real estate, from helping old friends and meeting new ones.
